Group Business Development Director

An exciting opportunity exists within our client, a rapidly growing Technology / business services company for a Group Business Development Director to take ownership of the organisations sales capability. The role reports directly into the Group Chief Executive and is a business critical role with the new Group Business Development Director sitting on the Group Executive Committee. This individual will already be an outstanding leader and mentor with significant experience of sales leadership and a first rate track record around driving through revenue growth and pipeline. They must be an agent for change, dynamic and comfortable working at pace. In addition, they must be a strategic thinker able to demonstrate how to develop the right strategy to support growth and future business development.


Core Responsibilities

The Group Business Development Director will have the following main responsibilities. They must:

  • Successfully conclude a minimum of 4 material new business wins in excess of annualised £10m revenues (or greater than £150m of TCV)
  • Successfully lead, develop and motivate the sales team improving sales strategy, performance and rigour
  • Accelerate revenue growth and build a pipeline to deliver over £400m revenue in 2017
  • Ensure that sales resources are properly aligned to growth markets
  • Work closely with existing and new clients to deliver and drive year-on-year revenue growth.
  • Network effectively to identify new clients and key decision makers to sell the company’s suite of products and services.
  • Focus the sales team on improving deal origination, qualification, sales development and closure
  • Focus the sales team around plans to develop and execute a growth strategy and improve implementation and sales planning
  • Determine partnership and go to market strategies for entry to European and North American markets
  • Develop capability and credibility in new outsourcing markets in financial services, life & pensions, compliance & probate
  • Ensure that the core sales team is fit for purpose building future capability through a combination of external talent sourcing and internal skills development
  • Coach, mentor and train the team to deliver objectives, personal development plans, key performance indicators and the operating model



    Skills, Knowledge & Experience

    The Group Business Development Director must be able to demonstrate the following experience skills and behaviours:-

    An outstanding track record at an executive level sales leadership role

    An outstanding track record of selling and growing revenue and EBITDA

    A demonstrable track record in developing strategy and business development plans to drive high growth

    A demonstrable track record of building businesses and of delivering rapid profit growth

    A demonstrable track record of delivery in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment with clear evidence of value creation

    A demonstrable track record of month on month delivery of new business targets

    Experienced in key account management, developing account plans and delivering consistent achievement of monthly targets

    Demonstrable expertise in outsourcing, including cutting edge experience of engagement models, selling outsourcing solutions and how clients buy outsourced services

    Exceptional people and relationship building skills; a master communicator (up, down and sideways) with powerful levels of persuasion and experience of building board level/C-Suite relationships to generate revenue

    Exceptional motivational and leadership skills, capable of mentoring and helping sales team members to achieve targets and grow within the business

    Experience working in a matrix style environment that requires operating with other senior leaders across multiple disciplines and product lines

    Entrepreneurial, agile with an instinctive understanding of when the client, market or business requires change
