Our client is a Local Authority looking to hire a highly experienced interim manager in children’s social care and safeguarding. Children’s Services in this Authority is going through transition, with strong plans in place but a lack of capacity and areas of poor performance. The Client
Green Park is partnering a renowned high street retailer through an exciting ambitious technology programme implementation by appointing an Interim Programme Manager to act as the conduit between the business change and technology implementation, partnering senior stakeholders, external consultancy and the wider business.

 

The Interim Assignment

Interim Strategic Property Organisational Design Lead

The Client:

Our client is a Local Authority that is going in to a strategic partnership with a private sector provider for its property and asset management function.

Then Interim Assignment:

The strategic partnership is due to go live on 1 April and the client needs to complete the organisational design for the new strategic function. A significant amount of work has already been undertaken in this regard, and whilst what follows is a very intensive period of work, it is then entirely possible that the contract could be extended beyond April as they move in to design implementation.

The immediate priority deliverables are:

  • To produce and gain agreement to a work plan to deliver each element of the services below.
  • To develop and implement a collaborative approach to the high level and detailed organisational design, resulting in alignment of all the relevant functions & components of the Council’s Strategic Property Service and Business & Enterprise teams with the agreed components & functions of the Strategic Property Partnership (together with any wider services where applicable)
  • Confirm the functions for each component: Strategic Property Partner, Retained, Intelligent Client and Pooled Resource, including the operation of these functions (process, systems, principles of required culture)
  • Recommend the structures, roles, capacity and capability requirements for each of the components.
  • Work with HR and confirm the implications of the recommended structures.
  • Create an owned, leadership led implementation plan to deliver the new design and all the component parts
  • Work as a dedicated resource to support, coach and enable leaders to both own and implement all elements of the new organisational design and create a One Team approach
  • Following design agreement, to support the initial delivery of the implementation plan through agreed actions
  • To agree and set up effective governance and report back to key stakeholders and ensure effective project management (including as a minimum: project plan, RAID log and status reports) to progress the project
  • To liaise with relevant stakeholders in the Council and private sector partner where required, to highlight and agree actions on related / out of scope tasks
  • To ensure a full handover process and supporting documentation to work manager(s) as well as any other identified stakeholders

Key expertise required is:

  • Experience and knowledge of Organisational Design / change management principles, diagnostics and methodologies and techniques, in particular whole systems thinking;
  • Demonstrable experience of successfully delivering Organisational Design interventions on Change Programmes that deliver sustained performance improvements;
  • Significant experience influencing senior leaders and stakeholders to determine effective organisation solutions to support the desired business outcomes;
  • Significant experience leading and embedding approaches to organisation design that derive sustained business improvements; and
  • Experience of operating across sectors and in partnerships or joint ventures, including commercial acumen and public sector knowledge

Therefore we are looking for interim managers who meet all of the below criteria:

  • Must be immediately available to interview within the next week and start work immediately 4 or 5 days per week. We unfortunately cannot consider candidates on long notice periods.
  • Proven organisational design expertise, gained ideally in a large Local Authority setting (at least in part and recently), is essential

The Client
Green Park is proud to be partnering a historic local group of companies currently going through a demerger due to the sale of one of their large business operations.

The remaining group will be circa £5m revenue and will compromise of a number of SME operations that trade across multiple sectors. Although these businesses have existed as separate entities for some time, we are establishing a new, small, lean, group structure on top of them

The Interim Assignment
The corporate demerger across the business operations has arisen following the sale of a large business unit therefore we now need to establish the remaining operations as separate corporate entities under two new companies during the next few months and appoint a new senior management team to take both businesses forward.

Following this sale, we will require an Interim Business Change Project Controller to work in consultation with 3 professional advisors (corporate finance, tax and legal) assisting the board to carefully consider the groups future corporate structure while being responsible for devising a detailed plan for delivering the demerger.

There are likely to be a range of other activities connected with the demerger and setting up the new company where the project manager will be asked to help out on a flexible basis. So whilst there is a strong project management element here, part of the role will be to help the senior leadership team of a newly set up group going through some complex change to deliver a wide range of different tasks.

The Interim Manager
You will need to haven proven experience within Business Change, ideally within SME environments.

You must demonstrate previous experience in mapping key corporate processes (e.g. I.T., HR, company sec, finance, accounting, shareholders.)

Bearing in mind the Finance Director has an agreed departure date of April 2015 we will require a Business Change Manager with financial understanding sufficient in drawing up a transitional finance risk register, identifying the key risks involved in the transition from a long established and experienced FD to a new interim FD and how these can be best mitigated.

You will need to be immediately available and be able to commit to at least 3 months potentially longer however we will consider someone on a 3 / 4 day a week basis.

The Client
Our client a leading transport orientated organisation are looking to hire an interim for 3-6 months to help aid with the delivery of a number of projects. The organisation carries out a wide portfolio of projects ranging in value and scope which are either commissioned by external clients or arise internally as a result of the organisations infrastructure.

The Assignment
The delivery manager will report to the Delivery Director and will line manager the majority of the team via four evaluation managers. The role will include ensuring delivery of project reports on time and to the required quality standard, overseeing satisfactory reporting to clients (internal and external,) monitoring quality assuring outputs. The role will also include resource allocation, budget management and workforce management across the team, monitoring progress and identification of risks to delivery and overseeing preparation of proposals for potential work.

Applicants will have a successful track record of working in a consultancy/ research environment and will be able to demonstrate strong experience of monitoring and evaluation work.
