The Client

Our client is a London Borough with an ambitious transformation and savings programme for the next three years which focuses on reshaping the Council around the digital customer journey

The Interim Assignment

As Director of Transformation, you will report to the Board and lead multiple workstreams across all Council services which are designed both to meet ambitious but achievable savings targets over the next three years, and enable the Council to reshape its services around a customer journey built around service digitisation. This is an ambitious transformation programme with an establish Lean based programme office and defined targets.

The Interim Manager

The Interim Director of Transformation will have led Council wide transformation programmes elsewhere which have not just identified savings, but also delivered them whilst evidencing service continuity and service improvement. You will have extensive experience of operating at AD or Director level and need to be prepared to commit for up to two years to this programme, most likely 5 days per week.

You will have outstanding communication and engagement skills at the highest levels and will be able to evidence tackling emotive savings initiatives which will meet significant resistance from staff and from residents. High emotional intelligence and integrity are essential, as is the ability to fit the organisation’s culture of stakeholder engagement wherever possible.

Prince 2, Lean and / or MSP experience are useful, but what is critical is clear evidence of an ability to deliver meaningful and successful service transformation in the most challenging circumstances.

The Client
Our client is an outer London Borough which has historically performed well, has a stable work force with low staff turnover. Culturally the organisation is delivery focused and this is reflected in both its initiatives and outcomes.

The Interim Assignment The interim project manager will be expected to plan and lead the implementation of a newly procured Social Care Information System and associated data migration, system configuration, change management, user training and business process re-engineering work required as part of this. The interim project manager will be expected to provide progress updates and advice to Council, Cabinet, Scrutiny Panels, the Corporate Management Team (CMT), Departmental Management Teams and key managers and staff across the authority. A large element of this role will be to manage the project to time and budget. This will include the production and management of the project budget (c. £2 million without internal resources), the management of the Implementation Project Team and the production of all related project documents. It has been identified that the relationship between the supplier, council and key stakeholders will be key to the success of the implementation and project. The interim project manager will be required to manage the relationship with the system supplier, ensuring that they are delivering in line with the agreed organisational requirements and the overall project plan. Additionally, as part of implementation, manage delivery of business benefits with and to key stakeholder’s. The interim project manager will also be required to work alongside senior managers from across the organisation to help drive the cultural change required.

Our Client

Our client is a Local Authority in the South East which performs adequately. In anticipation of the next round of Ofsted safeguarding inspections, they wish to hire a senior interim manager in children’s social care.

The Interim Assignment

The Interim Assistant Director of Children’s Social Care role has two facets. Firstly to lead on the operational management of key elements of service delivery in terms of safeguarding operations and the front door. Secondly, to lead on the Directorate’s improvement initiative ahead of the next Ofsted safeguarding inspection.

The Interim Manager

Applicants for the Interim Assistant Director, Children’s Social Care role will have significant expertise of service delivery at second tier. As an experienced Interim Assistant Director you will be fully in tune with the new inspection cycle and will have lead services elsewhere through inspections successfully, and / or will have led improvement / turnaround programmes at this level across children’s social care.

You will be social work qualified and ideally you will have up to 5 days per week availability. We anticipate this work lasting no less than six months. No matter when the service is inspected or what the outcome is, it is imperative to deliver measurable and sustainable improvements to the front door service and the full life cycle of safeguarding service for the benefit of service users and their families.
