Localgov: Damning report on leadership diversity

Green Park’s latest report, Local Government Leadership 2018, has found that Local Authorities are considerable lagging behind other sectors in terms of leadership diversity.

Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) leaders make up only 3.7% of senior positions, barely half of the representation at the same level in FTSE 100 organisations.

Neil Lupin, who leads Green Parks’s Interim Public Sector Practice, comments: ‘It is incumbent on local government individually and collectively to foster and enable greater levels of inclusion in its most senior ranks.

‘Every local authority has a responsibility to nurture and develop the diverse talent of today, as well as of tomorrow, and to create the most inclusive and representative leadership possible.’
